Swim Time Solar Heating System
Description:

The Swim Time Solar Heating System are manufactured by the biggest and best in the industry. With the Revolution Solar Panel for swimming pools, Fafco reinvents the panel that started it all. Revolution is the hottest solar pool heating panel on earth

The Swim Time solar Heating System is a solar pool heating system for your swimming pool. And we all know that solar energy is free and clean. Using it to heat your swimming pool or household water is an easy way to save money and extend your swimming season.

Manufactured by the premier company in the solar business (they have installed over 125,000 solar systems), these panels have been efficiently heating pools since 1972. Solar Bear's surface is fully whetted by pool water insuring the most efficient panel available.

Extra large 2-inch headers do not slow down your pool's circulation and ensure excellent solar heat transfer to your pool's water. Smaller 1-1/2-inch headers can reduce your pool's circulation and cause solar heating to be compromised.

Solar Bear systems are comprised of a single extra-large 4-feet by 20-feet collector with no coupling or connectors. The system is made of U.V. stabilized polyethylene that is very tough and will last many seasons under direct sunlight. the systems comes with an integral bypass valve, so you can turn them on and off as needed. Also included are two 6-feet hoses and four clamps to hook the system up to your filtration system.

Solar Bear panels can be mounted on the ground, on a rack, or a nearby roof. Complete installation and user's manuals are included. 10-Year Warranty. Put solar to work in your pool and swim in a warmer pool without the huge expense of heating it.
Note: For panels to heat optimally, they must receive unobstructed sunlight between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

In 1972, the world was introduced to the Fafco solar pool heating system. Today it is still the high performance standard, by which all other solar systems are measured.

In 1976, Fafco began blending and extruding all of their solar panel materials at their manufacturing plant. Since then, Fafco has refined and improved solar technology even more. With over 20 international and domestic patents for innovations like vacuum relief valves, water flow metering systems, foof panel fastening devices and auto control systems, Fafco continues to set standards for the solar industry worldwide.

Over a quarter of a century ago, Fafco engineers set about the daunting task of redefining the design and manufacturing standards of solar pool heating system.

Their goal was to create a solar pool heating system that would dramatically increase performance capabilities and have more heating power on demand.

About Fafco

In 1969, there were no successful solar businesses, and FAFCO founders Freeman A. Ford and Richard O. Rhodes sought to change that. The standard they set back then remains the same today: any new FAFCO product must be practical, efficient, and above all, make economic sense.

In the beginning, the few existing solar water heating system used heavy, expensive “copper glass” collectors. FAFCO’s first breakthrough was developing a proprietary copolymer blend material that was inexpensive, easy to install, and could withstand prolonged exposure to sunlight, heat and pressure. The second breakthrough was the collector panel design, featuring many small, closely spaced tubes that efficiently transferred thermal energy into water. Within a matter of years, FAFCO was the largest purveyor of solar pool heating systems in the United States.

In 1998, After witnessing FAFCO’s success in solar pool heating, the Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory approached FAFCO with an exciting challenge: to jointly develop the world’s first lightweight, affordable solar heating system for household water. FAFCO accepted the challenge, and in 2007, introduced a solar hot water system capable of reducing water heating bills by up to 50%—even more in some applications.

In a history spanning over four decades, FAFCO has earned nearly 30 U.S. patents. FAFCO’s achievements in solar technology have been widely recognized with a variety of industry awards and even a feature in Newsweek magazine’s “History of Solar” in 2008. Today, FAFCO remains confident that with time and technology, it will achieve its ultimate goal of putting solar energy within reach of every household.

Great product, repeat customer!!

Verified Purchase
Because there seem to be more negative or so-so reviews on here and very few positive, I feel the need to share my positive review. We first purchased this exact model at least 10 years ago. It was only after several years that it started to spring leaks (but unfortunately, we either didn't read or follow the directions and left it out during the first few winters in Ohio). So, Fafco sent us a free repair kit. Basically little plugs to block off the tubes that are leaking. Only this past year did it develop too many leaks to repair.

So for a product that cost approx $200 maybe when we first bought it, we sure did get our use out of it. I just ordered the exact model and hooked it up 3 days ago. Temp was up approx 10 degrees in 2 days. I like this model because it has a on/off switch (the red handle) so that if it's a cloudy day, you can leave it off. Most other products do not have that feature. We have been very pleased with our first model and so far in 3 days with this second. Hopefully this one will hold up as well as the first one did and now from the first winter on, we will make sure to put it indoors for the winter.

Swim Time Solar Heating System
Frequently Asked Questions

Question
What does it include? Does it include the rack?
Answer
It does not include the rack, it does include a repair plug kit and two hoses. I built a quantity of 5 4'x6' plywood sheets with 2"x4" frames and laid them out on concrete paver blocks that I had leveled, then used metal strapping to connect them. The paver blocks were only at the junctions of the 4x6 sheets, I didn't build a patio for it. see less

Question
How many of these would I need for a 24 ft above ground pool? Live in Ohio
Answer
Just one. I have a 24 foot round 4 foot pool and I live in Ohio as well. One does the trick is long as it's in a sunny area.

Question
Where do I purchase the rack for the ground...or how do I make one?
Answer
Your best bet is to make one. though there are a lot of ways to do it, i am including a link to one project i found online that is similiar to what i did, except mine sits only a few inches off the ground.

Very easy to build Solar Water Heater that raised the water temperature of my pool by 17 degrees Fahrenheit (68f to 85f) in 6 days. ...And it's still rising. :-) Final cost less than $150 total.

My first solar water heater for the pool. Another 2014 Success!!!
